Hello darkness my old friend!

Winter is here and with the first frosts nipping at your heels we welcome the shortest day of the year too.

It’s the year’s harshest season, winter.

For some it’s a time for planning (thinking ahead to the warm summer months).

However, we don’t think you should let the cold weather get the better of you. Wrap on a wooly jumper and pick up the right Wolf Garten tool.

You can make easy work of many outdoor tasks. We also suggest that perhaps the fortifying power of a mince pie with a complimentary glass of mulled wine would not go amiss either (it might just put you in the festive spirit too).

According to Royal Horticultural Society here are this month’s top ten jobs to be getting on with at the allotment or in the garden:

  • Check your winter protection structures are still securely in place
  • Check that greenhouse heaters are working
  • Insulate outdoor taps and prevent ponds from freezing
  • Prune open-grown apples and pears (but not those trained against walls)
  • Prune acers, birches and vines before Christmas to avoid bleeding
  • Harvest leeks, parsnips, winter cabbage, sprouts and remaining root crops
  • Deciduous trees and shrubs can still be planted and transplanted
  • Take hardwood cuttings
  • Keep mice away from stored produce
  • Reduce watering of houseplants

For December 2019 we have chosen the incredibly versatile WOLF-Garten Multi-ChangeĀ® Telescopic Handle 220-400cm

Perfect for apple picking in the autumn, tree pruning throughout the year or simply scraping an unsightly bit of moss off the roof.

The ZMV4 handle is just what you need to reach all sorts of hard to reach places.

It has so many uses and applications that it was the obvious choice for our tool of the month this December (tool heads sold separately).

It makes a great gift too but will take up quite a bit of room under your Christmas tree!

At maximum length it’s a whopping four metres long and yet, thanks to some truly splendid Germany engineering remains relatively lightweight.

The strong aluminium pole has a PVC sleeve to protect from the elements, recommended for use all year around and it fits all multi-change tool-heads.

The ZMV4 is backed up with a 35 year guarantee too. What more could you want?
